Christy started riding as a teenager in San Diego, and chose dressage from the beginning. She got the chance to dive into horses completely while attending UC Davis, where she competed on both the Intercollegiate H/J and Dressage teams and worked as a barn supervisor for the UCD Equestrian Center. Her senior year, she became the student manager for the Equestrian Center, and also got her first horse, Carrera, an off-the-track TB who took her to her first USDF recognized shows. When he passed away unexpectedly in 2004, Christy leased her friend’s ex-hunter, Rodney, re-training him for dressage and qualifying him for the 2005 CDS/USDF Championships at Training Level. They finished the year ranked 3rd in the country for the USDF/AQHA All Breeds Awards.
Christy began taking lessons with Christine in the fall of 2005, and purchased her new horse, Sante , from her in February of 2006. Sante is a 7 year old Dutch WB, and is everything Christy ever wanted in a horse—talented enough to go up through the levels, yet super sweet and forgiving of her mistakes as she breaks through the First/Second Level barrier for the first time! He even forgives her bouncing as she learns how to sit that huge trot…..He is known as “Super Sante” around the barn for his terrific work ethic and his “in your pocket” personality!
Christy and Sante are showing at First/Second Level and Christy hopes to earn her Bronze Medal with him over the next few years.Sante is showing at Fourth level with Stacy Zwergel in 2007 as she works toward her silver medal. Sante took Stacy to achieving her bronze medal in 2006.
