Carolynne began riding dressage in High school (many moons ago) after attending a dressage show at Springdown Farms in Portola Valley were she saw Sandy Howard ride Bullmarket in a Freestyle exhibition. Coming from a dance background, she was drawn to the intricacies and the similarities of the two arts. So it began with a four year old Morgan mare named Roxanne that together they would embark on an incredible journey of learning and competing. Carolynne and Roxanne schooled to 4th level and showed through 3rd with respectable scores for those times. Although Roxanne could compete side by side with the big warmbloods that were now entering the scene, she decided to breed Roxanne to a warmblood to get a bigger horse with bigger movement. Enter Tanzer, a Holsteiner/Morgan cross. Well, we didn’t get big, but got a little horse that thinks he is big! After Tanzer was born Carolynne decided to pursue her dance career while he “grew up”. As it happens, life gets in the way, and she came home, got married, bought property, built a barn and now she’s ready to ride again! (17 years later!) She never lost her dream of owning a big horse with big movement though, so 3 years ago, very unexpectantly, while visiting a friend at a barn literally down the street and around the corner from her ranch, she found her dream horse! Diamond’s Sparkle is a 4 year old Hanoverian that has an uncanny resemblance to Roxanne but bigger and with big movement! Carolynne is very excited and happy to be working with Christine and Ellie and anxious to get back in the show ring!
This is Roxanne. She was 29 years old in this picture. Carolynne had to put her down in September of 2006 at the age of 30 after a long battle with cushings and all the problems that go along with the disease. Roxanne is the horse that all of Carolynne's other horses must measure up to as she was everything to her. Carolynne had Roxanne's mom for 37 years, Roxanne for 30 years, and now Roxanne's son Tanzer is 17. What a family!
