Michele received riding lessons at the age of 7 and has not stopped taking them for 30 years. First she started as a western rider taking lessons from the San Mateo County Horseman’s Association Junior Clinic. At 10 she decided that she wanted to jump and she started taking jumping lessons with her aunt’s horse “Diamond Lil” At 10she went to riding camp were she said she could jump a 3’3 course. Michele arrived and quickly figured out how to “fake it” because she was in way over her head. Camp made Michele realizes that she needed more serious lessons.
Michele moved to Springdown where she started her interest in 3-day eventing. (This is where Michele met and became friends with Chris) Michele competed several horses in eventing and continued to take many lessons with eventing greats: Mike Plumb, Torrance Watkins Fleishman, Karen Stives, Jim Wolford and Don Saychee.
It was time for Michele to go to college and there was no question that her horse had to come and the lessons to continue. Michele picked USC not far from where Don Saychee trained. After a short while working with Don he suggested that Michele take dressage lessons from the dressage trainer so he could just work on her jumping.
